In Lucknow, the district malaria officer of Unnao, Ramesh Chandra Yadav, was caught in the act by the vigilance establishment while receiving a bribe of Rs 10,000 on Monday. A biologist from the filariasis control unit in Unnao, KK Gupta, filed a written complaint against Yadav, alleging that he had requested the bribe in exchange for approving his medical leave. Following Gupta's report to the senior superintendent of police and the UP vigilance establishment, it was confirmed that Yadav was involved in bribery. On the day of the incident, Yadav accepted the money from Gupta at the district malaria office in Unnao and was subsequently arrested by the vigilance team. The cash amount of Rs 10,000 was recovered after a thorough search. A case has been registered against Yadav by the vigilance establishment in Lucknow and legal action is underway, according to officials.
